My Experience
I qualified in 2013 and have been in private practice since 2017. From 2019 to 2025 I served as Clinical Manager of a counselling charity, overseeing complex clinical presentations and supporting a team of practitioners through some genuinely challenging times — including moving an entire service online during Covid without closing once.
That period taught me a great deal about resilience, adaptability and what people are truly capable of when they have the right support around them. I am currently training in clinical supervision, reflecting my ongoing commitment to the highest standards of professional practice.
I offer sessions face to face in the South Lincolnshire area, online, and by telephone — so wherever you are and whatever suits you best, we can find a way to work together.
What I Love About This Work
There is nothing quite like the moment a client begins to believe in themselves.
When someone who arrived feeling broken, stuck or alone starts to grow — to see themselves differently, to make choices they couldn’t make before, to move into a new chapter of their life — that’s why I do this. I want every person I work with to know that they are not alone, that they will not be judged, and that however things feel right now, nothing is impossible.
My Approach
I work from a person-centred foundation, which means that you — your experience, your pace, your needs — are always at the heart of our work together. I integrate psychodynamic principles to help us explore how your past may be shaping your present, and I have specialist experience working with trauma and dissociation.
But therapy isn’t only for crisis. Some of my most rewarding work has been with people who are fundamentally okay but want more — better work-life balance, a clearer sense of direction, the courage to explore new opportunities or simply to live more fully. You don’t have to be in pain to deserve support
About Helen
I’m Helen Anne Wells, a UKCP and BACP Accredited psychotherapist and counsellor with over ten years of experience helping people find their way through some of life’s most difficult terrain — and into something better.
My journey to this work wasn’t straightforward. I know from my own experience what it means to struggle — to feel overwhelmed, lost, and unsure whether things could ever really change. Therapy gave me back my life. It helped me understand myself, rebuild my confidence, and step into a future I genuinely couldn’t have imagined. That experience shapes everything I bring to this work. I don’t just believe therapy works. I’ve lived it.
A Little About Me
I live in South Lincolnshire with my husband and our two golden retrievers. I find peace in nature — in long walks and open skies — and there’s something about being by the sea that restores me completely. I suspect that’s why the wave in my necklace feels so right.
(You’ll notice it in my photo — it was a deliberate choice.)
